ABOUT
The Drama team, under the English Literary Society in Sung Siew Secondary School was established early this year 2006. Students are encouraged to participate, to explore, to create and to enjoy. Drama provides students with the chance to express themselves, improve communication skills, build confidence and develop skills and knowledge of Drama and the theatre from a range of cultures. Our target audience are parents, teachers and ofcourse the young people.
Through this, the team prepares activities that encourage students in using the English Language in various situations - fun games and acting. The team believes in the commitment to work, share and learn as one team. Members are exposed to drama arts and techniques - scripted work, mime techniques, stage fighting, trust exercises, characterisation, improvisation, vocal qualities, sound effects, monologues, light effects, make ups, costumes and props designing. By this, they develop team spirit awareness and leaderships.
The mission is to provide a comprehensive theatre education with the goal of producing original, creative, knowledgeable and caring theatre artists that understand their responsibilities to their community, their art and their personal growth. To promote theatre as a necessary art from through productions that challenge, enlighten and engage both the artists and the audience. Our vision is to create artists in an environment that nurtures the creative process and critical thinking, toward understand the social issues that our community is facing, especially with the young people.
